ross81
Does anyone have a wooden base on their WIR? I can't pave the space that im looking to get a WIR for so thought this might be good if i use hemcore on the floor of it.
The Dogmother
never heard of anyone having a wooden floor - I'd think it might be inclined to get mite infested underneath though.
Jools
Hazel has/had her eglu on a very snazzy movable wooden floor - see here The only problem I foresee is that wood absorbs water, so the floor may stay wetter than it would on concrete or slabs. I don't think that red mite would be a particular risk though as it's not wood they're attracted by. Afterall, you'll have hemcore over the base anyway and plenty of other hiding places in the WIR structure and house should they chose to visit!
