JB09
Hi all, I usually bath my girls from time to time, just to freshen them up! I'm planning a bath sesh tomorrow and have googled 'bathing chickens' to see if I could find and tips to make it a bit easier - I never have too much of a problem but with four to contend with I thought a few tips wouldn't go a miss. Anyway, a few of the websites seemed to suggest a couple of caps of vinegar in the water, has anyone heard to this before? What does it do? I wouldn't want them to think they were being marinated! or to smell like a chippy!
Redwing
Some people use vinegar to add shine (it works on your hair too!) When washing a bird for a show I use horse shampoo and a gentle human conditioner but for a one off wash of a garden chook then baby shampoo or similar would work well Unless you are planning to show your birds they wouldnt normally need a bath, only do this when you have to and only wash the parts of the body that are grubby as birds take AGES to dry! JB09
Ha ha, I know I have been seen out in the garden with chook on lap and hair dryer in hand! I normally use baby shampoo but was curious to the effects of vinegar! Thanks for reply.
jennydavies
All our friends laughed at me when I told them I dried Nugget with the hairdryer after she got wet in the rain
Mollie333
I use johnsons baby shampoo, and then spray down with Aussie leave in conditinor (for humans) it smells great- worth picking some up! you can use it on your hair aswell, leaves it so soft and not greasy! .
