I just picked up one of my chickens and she has what looks like a small red ball coming out of her vent. does anyone know what this is please?

It sounds as if it could be a prolapse - a bit like piles. It can be serious, if the vets is still open I would get her checked out. They can be replaced, but it's no always successful, but if left out then she is likely to be pecked by the other hens and suffer bleeding and complications.
