chicken bark
Advice needed please. My 3 new girls have been free ranging all day today with my original 3 girls. They also spent yesterday afternoon and the afternoon before that FRing together. Lily seems to have assumed role of top hen and Chicken Bark is the only one asserting herself. This is done by a little nudge at the two other new girls every now and then and that just makes Sunday and Ruby dodge her a bit. So there has been no confrontation as of yet. I am relieved about that. So my question is: Should I put the new girls in with the others tonight when they are all sleepy (and then let them out early tomorrow morning) or should I just stick with it as it is for a few more days I'm tempted to give it a go because it all seems to be going well so far, but I wanted to know what omleteers with knowledge of introductions think. Roobaloo
I personally don't think it's worth the risk...things have been going well, I wouldn't risk pushing my luck and risking the life of a hen just to speed up the process, especially if there is no urgency. jennydavies
Ginger used to knock seven bells out of Blanche/Raymond in the hen-house. On the last morning before Ginger was re-homed there were white feathers all over the hen-house floor - they were B/R's Softly, Softly, Catchy Monkey. chicken bark
Thanks everyone. I think I was getting ahead of myself. I will let them carry on as they are as I don't need the eglu freed up for a couple of months. I guess I am just impatient to get a happy flock. I was just worried that if I didn't put them in together sooner rather than later then they may get used to not being together at night and resent it more when I did put them together. (if that makes sense?) Thanks again and I will stick them in together in a week or so.
