Excellent mite deterrent!

Recommended Posts

This might be a bit naughty, but I thought I'd share it anyway as it has worked so well for me!

Last July I bought my first 3 girls, and in September my White Star went broody. After a few days I lifted her off the nest and took the straw out, and found a whole MOUND of red mite! I sprayed her with Johnson's Anti Mite, and then I sprayed the inside of the coop with Indorex Flea Spray. This stuff is brilliant - since last September I have not seen a SINGLE mite! It is a bit pricey (costs £14.55 for 500 ml from our vets) but you only need to use a tiny bit once a year.

I know this is not meant for use with poultry, but my hens have all been fine after their coops have been treated. I turf them all out early in the morning, give the coop a good clean and then a short burst of Indorex, then close the doors for half an hour to give it a chance to get into all the cracks, then air the coop out till the girls go to bed.
