Hello i have two chickens Marmalade and treacle just recently marmalade has started to squak lowdly in the early hours of the moring any ideas of hoe to shut her up. we have tried everything leaving the door open keeping her locked up and when we do go down a shut her up she starts again. Just the other day we had to throw water at her.

You could try putting a blackout cover over the coop so they don't realise it's morning . Mine sometimes make a racket first thing (like 6am this morning ) but they shut up when we go out with their food and water.

We used to have this problem then my neighbour bought a goose i no longer worry about my chooks.

Mine were very noisy first thing (from 5 or so) about 6 weeks ago, we thought due to the lighter mornings, so we now cover their run and let them out at a slightly more reasonable hour! They protested for a few days as we could hear them inside the Eglu but we stuck to it and now they're happy as larry and quiet a mice! They chatter when the foods being dished out but we no longer get sqworks of 'let me out'.

I felt awful doing it, but mine are much quieter in the morning now that they know that loud noises in the morning are greeted with a squirt of water...
