Greggo600
Hi I'm new to chicken ownership. I have 2 and one of them last week just stood still for hours all ruffled up looking rather sad and poorly. There was a waterey mess in the coup and she has the runs on and off. I bought some organic wormer and used for 3 days. She did perk up later the same day. Again this morning she was standing motionless in the pen and has more waterey mess in the coup together with some sloppy poo. Any advice would be gratefully appriecated. Egluntyne
I would give her an all over health check **as described here**, and if nothing obvious shows up, I'd worm her again, with Flubenvet, which is available online. Has she started laying?
Jools
How old are they, how long of you had them, where did you get them, what are you feeding them, have there been any other symptoms, etc etc? She sounds pretty poorly but there could be lots of causes with those symptoms.
Greggo600
Thanks for the replys. I have had them from a friend who couldn't keep them anymore. They are approx 2.5 yrs old. I feed them layers pellets. She hasn't stopped laying. I'm not sure if she just has a sensitive tummy. I've had them about a month. Jools
Mmmm well in that case, I would definitely start worming them both straight away. The watery droppings are a sign of drinking a lot, which happens when it gets really hot, but that doesn't explain the other symptoms. TBH if she was mine, I'd get a faeces sample tested ASAP as there could be all sorts of causes and second guessing won't really help her.
