ewoodpugz Posted June 2, 2010 Share Posted June 2, 2010 Mrs Chicken who is top of the pecking order and first in for food is acting very strangely today. I noticed that she was in the nest box for ages then as I was cleaning them out she jumped out and was sat on two eggs which I removed. She's since gone back in there and is just sitting on the nest box. She won't be tempted by any treats and looks sleepy with puffed up feathers. She is very skittish so it would cause her great distress if I tried to pick her up to examine her and I don't want to do this given her mood. ANy suggestions would be most welcome. I'd try booting her off the nest and if she is pecky, indignant and flattens herself like a pancake, then you have a broody hen on your hands. Visually she looks fine, her tail is up and her comb is red.
