louise62
Elspeth (14 weeks old), who has only been with me since Saturday, is looking a bit listless. She was fine yesterday, eating and drinking. This morning she ate and drank a little but this afternoon and evening she has just been sitting in the nest box. She doesn't want to eat or join Phoebe in the run. Her eyes are bright and she looks ok, but very fed up. She isn't clucking much, just makes a little sound in her throat. Any ideas?
Plum
Could she be broody Sorry just noticed age. As she is new and you say she makes a noise in her throat, I would check that the stress of the move hasn't made her pick up an illness. I would watch her for discharge from her nose and noisy breathing. Is the noise in her throat a chirp or like a wheeze?
louise62
Thank you for you reply. The sound is not a wheeze and there was no discharge last night. This morning she didn't come out of the eglu when I opened the door. Phoebe came out as usual, but Elspeth didn't want to join her. I'll have a good look at her in a little while. louise62
She seems fine now thank you I'm not sure what the problem was, but as the day went on she cheered up and has been eating and drinking again. Hopefully it was just an off day...we all have them
