Sheffield City plots - drive to 'grow your own'

Recommended Posts

I can understand why councils are wary of providing more allotments. Lack of land, needing to take a very long term view, etc - my understanding is that once they designate land as an allotment it HAS to stay that way if any plot-holders require it. I know, am going to be v unpopular here - but school playing fields or allotments? Council /affordable housing, or allotments?. Up until a (very) few years ago, many allotment sites were underused, so providing more didn't figure in a long term plan.

However, semi-temporary land for growing - it's a brilliant idea.
