Big Food Little Chooks

Recommended Posts

Having recently returned to the Fluffy Bum world I am experiencing something rather bizare.

My girls seem to be scared of, and certainly won't eat, anything bigger than a gran of rice !

My last girls would pounce on anything I threw them and gobble it down more like piranhas than chooks. Most unladylike in fact. But my new ones won't go anywhere near any treat I throw them unless its mashed or ground up. I have just put a lettuce in there with them and they are giving it Paddington Bear stares but not eating it or even investigating it.

Perhaps if I put it in a bowl with a bit of dressing they might be more interested

I have just tried to sprinkle it with crushed corn to try to make it look more appetising but they just looked at me like I was a fool.

Ideas anyone ?

Should I prepare to be Moulinexing their treats from now on ?

Forgot to add that I am not sure of their ages just that they started laying about 3 weeks ago.

I agree lay off the treat idea.

Then when they are a bit older try again. My sussex dont like big leaves if they arnt attached to someonething or they cant step on it because they need to get girp of it. (like a dog eating a chew)

My MD's dont eat anything too big but they get anything they can after the sussex have had anything so they get half of what the sussex have.

Just try after a couple of weeks.

Hi Debby, hope you are well, how long til you pick up your new cube ?

To show my girls that things hanging up for them wouldn't attack them, I tied the lettuce etc to the run fence and then stood with them and tore bits off and scattered it on the floor. They quickly caught on that what they were happily eating off the floor was the same thing that was hanging up, they then went at it like piranhas :D

Jenny.
