Two boys fighting

Recommended Posts

My two boys seem to be getting worse by the day as they are always fighting. They are both brothers and seem to be fighting over anything. Now they are strange ducks as they go everywhere with each other, do everything at the same etc.. But the fighting is getting worrying now

They just seem to be pulling feathers from each other and nipping each other. Ive had to physically pull them a part from fighting and placing one of ducks at one end of the garden but as soon as my back is turned they are running to each other to have another fight.

Any ideas? And i cant separate them as if they cant see each other they quack like mad so there brothers for life :P

Hi do you have any females my 2 drakes are father and son they each have their own girls but all run together bigbird the father is a devil because he tries it on with any of the girls in the garden but as soon as his son sir francis tries it on with his ladies they start neck wrestling pulling feathers trying to drown each other in the pond they never get really vicous and it blows over in minutes but they do it all the time this time of year but it all goes quiet come september unless their causing serious injurys to each other i would ignore them leanne.

We got two unsexed Indian Runners in April 09 which turned out to be both boys. They were perfectly happy and friendly 'til about late March/early April when they decided to bite me at any opportunity they had. I think they were trying to mate with me as they always held on and started shuffling on the ground. It really hurt and I had bruises and marks all over me! They would even do it to other people if they had the chance :(

The other worry was that like with yours they were attacking each other! They had always been a little bit aggressive towards each other when using the swimming water (ie not letting the other in while one was using it) but they were biting each other and pulling each other's feathers, it wasn't nice to watch :(

We tried squirting them with water, pulling them apart when they bit each other and even using a toy duck to see if they would relieve themselves of their urges with it but nothing worked. Our final resort, not that it was something bad like eating one of them :P, was to get 4 females which we got a few weeks ago. We hope that next season when the girls are mature, the boys will mate with them and will be less frustrated and hormonal, therefore reducing the aggressiveness.

We just hope it won't make matters worse by making them fight over the girls... :? If that happens we'll have to seperate them off into trios I think :) They are starting to calm down now anyway as they are starting to moult but come mating season next year it'll start again and that's why we got the females :)
