Helppppp!!! Out of pellets!!!

Recommended Posts

:wall::wall::wall: I've managed to forget to stock up last weekend and think I've only got enough pellets to last me until tomorrow :oops:

I've got plenty of mash---I usually give them a porridgy dish of it, mixed with water, but they eat that in about 10 mins

Can I fill the feeder with dry mash and let them eat it like pellets??

Can't believe I've been such a bad chicken mummy...

Tried phoning my friend to ask her to go to shop and buy some for me but can't get hold of her.... :(

(I'm at work)

Thanks, that's helpful to know! do you put it in the same sort of plastic dispenser that the pellets go into?

In fact it turned out that the pet shop was closed (Wed afternoon...) but I managed to get to a Pets at Home on my way back from work (thye are open until 8pm :D ) and they had some :D:D

It's easy to forget isn't it! Our cat has a special lower-urinary diet that we have to pre-order from the vet usually... Amazing how you go from fully stocked to suddenly finding the shelf near-bare just as you're starting a run of shifts at work...!

I'm not sure how long each bag of feed will last me, having not got the girls yet but once I've worked it out, I hope to get a stocking up system in place!?

Hey if you ever get stuck again I live in Crawley and my 4 will happily spare you a cup (or 2) if we have it available. I drive and have car and am always happy to help a friend (which we must be as we both have chickens). Although I work F/T I can generally get places whilst they are open.

Marsh Farm is on my way to EG too.

Perhaps we should set up mini suppport groups in case of such a crisis?

i think a support group is a great idea! i'm in stoke on trent (staffordshire) if anybody else is close by! pm me :D

Yes, normal container, Red, Blue, Green, or in my case pink flowery

Thats something else you will find, every time you go shopping you buy more food holders for them.

Very expensive business this chook keeping :D

Margaret - where'd you get your pink flowery one!? mine's just a blame boring red one :|:boohoo: lol

ps. feed mine dry mash in normal feeder, slowly weaning onto pellets tho (also fed dry in normal feeder).

i bet shoura's porridge mix is great in the winter made up with warm water - i'll be trying that recipe!
