Boris70
Hi, Can anyone shead any light - we went away for the weekend, and a kind neighbour was looking after the girls for us. We've come home - and Penny has a bald head now - just the back of it - but she does look rather silly! My first thought was that the others have been picking on her - but watching her the last 2 days - they don't seem to be, and she hasn't lost anymore feathers either. As she's top chicken - I really hope they are picking on her as this may indicate she's poorly, and someone is trying to take her spot. Any other ideas why she's suddenly gone bald? Thanks
Looney
My only suggestion would be pecking from the others...... ....unless your neighbour has something to tell you?
ali-s
Could she be moulting? Mine lost feathers on the backs of their heads first. Any white 'dandruff' in the Eglu? These are bits of the feather shafts from the new growing feathers. Hens first moult when they are about a year old.
Boris70
Hi, Nope she's not moulting - just looks really silly! No more feathers lost yesterday - so hopefully htey'll grow back soon - or she might get sunburnt in the summer!
