Stedic
Hi everyone! Well, you all warned me, I didn't believe you but it was true....I want more chickens! My two girls are looking very happy these days and we should have eggs soon! I've got a Copper Black and a Merrydale Blue, both about 20 weeks ish. They live in an Eglu, with a home made run extension giving them 3 metres or so in total. I've been able to give them a pretty decent amount of free ranging since I got them, and they seem to happily potter about the garden hunting for worms, sunbathing spots and my girlfriend (who is the soft touch when they want corn!). I've also got an old Forsham ark from when I first got them, which I could use for introductions... So the question is, would 4 hens happily live in a 3m run, with an Eglu classic to sleep in? Most days they would be able to get at least 30 minutes out of the run to stretch their legs, often more that this (especially in the summer). Or is it just a bit too small for 4? Introducing one more would be impossible, wouldn't it? Steve
Redwing
Introducing one is not ideal no.. 3m is a little tight for 4 chooks, is there any way of extending the home-made bit of run? I had 4 in a 3m run and I wouldnt do it again
hunkydoory
I've just added a home-made run of 2.5 x 1.5m getting up to 2m (its a wedge shape) to a standard classic and run for 3 birds and I wouldn't put a 4th bird into the mix - well I would if I could afford a cube and a bit more of a run and if the OH wasn't so mean
