squidsin
I posted on here a week or so ago about how my pekin bantam Nugget has a gammy eye. I took her to the vet who said she thought it was a respiratory infection and prescribed a 5 day course of antibiotics. Well, now Nugget's whole cheek on that side has swelled up, forcing her eye shut. I'll take her to the vet again tomorrow (I'll have to find a country vet not too far out of London as my vet admitted she wasn't sure of her diagnosis - what a pain) but has anyone any idea what might be wrong? I can't see evidence of a wound and she seems otherwise perky and is feeding and preening fine.
Egluntyne
She needs to go back to the vet. She could have a sinus infection, or even mycoplasma. Either way, it sounds as if she needs further antibiotics.
squidsin
Yup the vet said he thinks it's mycoplasma. She's had an injection and has some more antibiotics and eye drops. Cost me £138! I can't afford to take her again - hell, I couldn't really afford that - so she'd better get well this time!
Egluntyne
Am glad that you took her. Fingers crossed that the treatment does the trick.
