Daffodill
Hi everyone- I have a question. 2 of my 4 hens have gone broody the day after I started worming them all. In 1 respect it is quite good because the 2 left in the run have more room than if all 4 were out. But I am worried that the 2 broodies are not going to get sufficient worming treatment as they are not going to the food unless I remove them from the nest box. I have been removing them 6 times a day and they grab a quick drink and food and head back inside. Should I abandon the treatment and let them all out into the big run or carry on for the 7 days and hope its worked?
miller30
Hi my chickens were getting wormed when 2 of mine were broody i use flubenvet i put it in the food as normal but the broodys got half a grape dipped in flubenvet for 7 days so i know they got their dose and i think taking her out the nest 6 times aday is a bit much i remove mine once aday and feed her in between bread soaked in water or sweetcorn off my big cooking spoon otherwise she just wants to rip my fingers off hope this helps leanne. Daffodill
Thats usefull thanks-I didnt think of feeding her while she was sitting she is very fierce its a side to her Ive not seen before. At the moment I have had no eggs for 4 days and the other 3 hens seem to like to keep her company and also sit in the nest box but do come out regularly and the food is going down with the worming powder in it. I'll be glad when they can come out of the run again I feel so mean
