Unsecure chicken perches

I have two chicks that are a day late from hatching and defiantly still alive.

 

They have made two large hole in the shell in which you can clear see them through

 

The chicks are moving but dont seem to be making any profress what should i do?

How long have they been like that?

 

There can be a delay of 12 hours and maybe more between them making a hole and getting out

 

They will make the hole then take in some air and rest for a while before continuing

 

If they are under a broody leave them, if they are in an incubator check that the humidity is about 55-60% and if so leave them to get on with it dont open the lid at this critical time as the membrane will dry out and trap the chick. If you have already opened the lid and are worried quickly dab some warm water on any exposed membrane and get the lid shut again quickly
