jay-nairne
i have a chick who hatched out last night. i moved here to the brooder but she still looks as if she is wet. There is dried gunk all over her. She seems very weak and hasn't even attempted to learn to walk. She just lys there. What should i do to help her walk and to help her dry out
joza2210
If she was not fully dry you should not off removed her from the incubator really ... If she has loads of gunk on her i dont know what i would do ... I was thinking of wiping her with a baby wipe or something - I dont know ... I would just wait until someone more experienced comes along

Redwing
Dip her beak in some water to see if you can get her to drink a little, if she wont drink dont force her Give her a wipe over with a damp warm cloth to get rid of as much gunk as possible then put her back in the incubator for the day to dry properly Hopefully when she is dry and fluffed up she will be strong enough to walk, the incubator will give her the ideal environment to start her off Always leave chicks to dry out fully before taking them out of the incubator, you get dry fluffy and stronger chicks as a result
