teacher friend - feeling much better

Recommended Posts

I've heard Janty's assessment from lots of teachers. One of the things I wonder about being a bit different from another caring profession like medicine is that in medicine most (not all of course) patients are in and out, so maybe there isn't the time to emotionally attach or invest in the same way. A whole year of exposure to a class full of small people may mean teachers have the stress of knowing those people intimately and really gunning for them.

I have met some astonishing nurses. Some of what they have to do, and with such cheer is really amazing. But I wonder if it's a different type of pressure as each patient is often a much shorter term project? Am I way off?

Also, don't forget the other problems that teachers may have to face besides the long hours, paperwork, badly behaved children, planning differentiation for at least four different levels within the classroom for each lesson, etc.

Parents regularly swear and abuse teachers, many teachers are bullied by senior management and there is also the possibility in some schools of physical violence...I have been punched by a 13 year old.

That sounds grim!

I know we've had a warning from the mods about 'trolls & flamers' I suppose this thread could be labled that but its been helpful to get an inside view of the problems that teachers face. which is why I posted. For a long time I and I think many others found it difficult to understand why many teachers seem to be so stressed when on the face of it you get a good deal. When my friend seemed so poorly I wanted to be supportive but it is difficult sometimes when you cant get a proper perspective. thank you all for you comments

you may well be right, most of us see snippits of peoples lives even the district nurses who are with patients a lot when they are at the end of their lives, but its not the same as being shut in a room all day with the same group warts & all. I really was trying to understand so that I help my friend
