millieadra Posted June 28, 2010 Share Posted June 28, 2010 Hi, can anyone tell me about the rust that comes on the eglu run, ive heard people talk about it, but not sure where it happens, wether on the run or the clips,or how old the run is when it stats to rust. Also could someone tell me the size of the gaps in the run as i'm worried my cat could go fishing in it!!! Redwing Posted June 28, 2010 Share Posted June 28, 2010 the clips are plastic so they dont rust but they can go brittle with age, new ones are available very cheaply or you can use cable ties Rust on the run comes where the green coating has been scratched away - areas on the skirt that have seen the wrath of the lawnmower are prine spots as are the loops on the door where the door closes and through which the long door pin sits. Lawnmower damage can happen anytime and the wear on the door probably happens in the first year or two but the metal underneath stays sound, I have an Eglu run thats 4 years old and the rust has made no difference to its use The holes in the run are 1 inch high and 2 or 3 inches wide, a cat can get a paw in yes but chances are it wont approach the chickens as they seem to be scared of chickens Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
