Would This Work?

Recommended Posts

I keep ans breed snakes and was wondering if I could incubate hens eggs in a similar way to reptile eggs, using a home made incubator, if I turned then manually and got the temperature/humidity right? We have just over 2 months summer holiday here and I thought it would be a nice 'project' for my older two children (OK, and me, of course!) and that way I could do it without spending too much money. Also, I'd quite like a couple of cream legbars, so hopefully I would end up with a couple of hens.

So, the set up I would use would be a polybox as the 'shell' for the incubator, with heatmat on a thermostat as the heat source, which is infra-red, at the bottom, then the eggs set up in a tub on a rack so they are not touching the heat source.

Does that sound like it might work? (I am hoping I don't sound too ridiculous!)
