little bit of positivity please.

Just feeling a tad down in the dumps, it's been an odd month or two here at Cherry tree cottage...

Maisie has been broody for 3 wks now....... I've started to let her out of her cage in the afternoons, closing the door to the house so she cant get in, it encourages her to bath, exercise and eat! But it's very lengthy and she is showing NO signs of a reprieve. She's been broody pretty much since march, and has pulled alot of her feathers out and is looking not quite her self.

Harriet has had antiobiotics and it looking better :D:D:D:D:D

Hazel had to be PTS with a huge prolaspe 2 weeks ago,

now Layla is poorly, it's been 3 days, she is very quiet although she has got herself up this morning :D so am hoping it's just a softy. I syringed some very diluted squash into her yesterday as it's so hot and shes not eating/drinking.

We are due to go away tomorrow for 3 nights, it's out first break this year, we are knackered and really need it. But am worried about Layla.........

Just feeling sorry for myself :(:(:(

Sorry it's so long!

Well, I've made you an enormous cuppa, and I'm sending loads of positive Omlet vibes, so I hope you're packing your bags.

What a rotten time of it, I've had similar just before 3 days away recently, and it is hard leaving them. But, once you've checked all the essentials, they will either get better or worse anyway, whether you are there yourself or not.

Wishing you all the best with the hens, and hope you have a lovely, relaxing, well deserved break.

One more hug for luck! xx :D

Ahhhh you must go and try not to worry - 3 days is nothing and I am sure your chickens will be fine while you are away.It could just be the heat with Layla and I think it is due to get a little cooler here in the south east over the weekend. Have a hug from me and if there is anything I can do from Rettendon then please PM me :)

Oh Sweetie sorry you're feeling down and I'm so sorry to hear about Hazel, these girls do get to our hearts don't they.

I'm sure Maisie will be coming out of her broody spell soon, our Alice just come through the other side of a 6 week broody spell - 8 weeks without laying, with a moult at the same time. But she's fine now and is back to her greedy piggy self. :D I'm sure Maisie will be okay too.

Sending lots of positive vibes for Layla - I do hope she's okay and perks up soon.

Go away and have yourselves a lovely break, 3 days isn't long and I'm sure the girls will be fine without you. I'm not too far if you need me to pop round to check on them whilst your away, I think you have my mobile number already but PM me if you want it again. :)

Take care Hon, have a lovely break and when you come back things will seem much brighter. Big Hugs xxx

Thanks everyone!!

Sally that is soooooooo kind, luckily I have a really helpful neighbour who loves them, but was worried she was going to be over loaded with instructions!

All your vibes must have worked as Layla is much improved today and i've seen her eating and drinking :D:D:D

Maisie still isn't eating much though and she has a constantly empty crop :( But I suppose if she's not laying her appetite will be teeny tiny. She seems to enjoy being out during the day with one beady on the cube door incase it gets opened..... She will be in her cage while we are away. Karen may let her out, but if not it's hardly the end of the world.......

So thanks for all your help they are sooooooooooo apprieciated. It's our 2yr henniversay this month also :D
