Courgette problems

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

I'm growing courgettes for the first time. All my plants are looking good, but the courgettes on the most advanced plant start out looking green and healthy, but gradually start going yellow from the flower end before dropping off.

I'm growing them in big pots, and keeping them well watered. Any ideas what is wrong with them?

Thanks

Jill

I have grown them for years & you get some that just do that.

My biggest & best plant at the moment has dropped 3 fruits before giving me a decent one.

I now pinch them off as soon as I see the tell tale yellowing,so the plants energy goes into producing new fruits.

Try a seaweed feed for them, maybe?

Are they getting to about 2" long before dropping?

If so, it's perfectly normal!

At the beginning of the season, on windy days and during rainy weather pollination can be erratic. poorly or non pollinated fruits can be sustained for a couple of days by the plant itself before the it decides instead to concentrate it's energy in producing new flowers.

You don't need to do anything at all, when there are more bees flying and more flowers on the plant you will be inundated and begging friends and neighbours to take your surplus!
