The Dogmother
That's the principle that I operate on Olly, and I had a 'difficult' conversation with Phil's mate at the weekend... he's a 'pseudo veggie', who doesn't eat meat, eats fish, but doesn't like animals of any sort. He isn't veggie for any moral reasons, just 'because he wants to be'. He called me a hypocrite for eating meat that I had met, which I didn't understand. Like you, we eat less meat and it's carefully sourced, I don't have any qualms about eating one of Lesley's chickens that I have met (or reared myself), or eating bacon from one of her piggies. If I had the room, I would rear meat chooks and neck them myself without any problems. After all, we're omnivores, aren't we? Having said that, I was veggie myself for a while for ethical reasons, because in those days you couldn't source decent meat. And I am totally understanding of 'moral/ethical veggies'. You want to get Louise going on this subject - she was some interesting views.
