JB09
I have five eggs under a broody. I candled on day six and had 4 embryos and one I was not sure about so I have candled again today to see if there was any development. In the eggs that had embryos I could see the embryos moving about, however one side of the egg seemed dark. Does this sound right? We are on day eight and I am still not sure about the other one, so will leave it and see what happens! Cheers JB
sjp
dark is good clear is bad as in not fertile all 6 of mine were dark all were fertile 5 hatched one was DIS. I never got to see very much in them through I used a touch and a toilet roll centre candle a fresh egg it give you an idea as to what a clear egg looks like
Roobaloo
I'm in pretty much the same position except mine are in an incy!!! I candled mine yesterday on Day 7...4 were definitely embryos, slight movement etc...but in one you could see some of the 'spidery' lines but part seemed to be in shadow unlike the rest and turning the egg slightly didn't make it any clearer to see...the shell is slightly darker but not by a lot... I'm planning to candled them again on Day 10 and see if there's been any change..
The Dogmother
Some egg shells are just denser and harder to see through. Sounds like you're doing it right though.
JB09
Thanks guys! Even though the shell is darker on one side I can still see the embryos moving about. I'm just leaving them now and letting nature take its course. Fingers crossed. Good luck to all you hatchers! JB x
