What do you put in the dust bath?

Recommended Posts

I had to take mine out too. I had sand and hemcore (they love rolling in pooey run hemcore) and chucked in some louse powder and Diatom. What a waste of time.

Tried it with soil from the garden (even from their garden dust bath). Ignored.

They don't have a dedicated dustbath any more.

Mine have two...one is compost and soil (formally known as the flower bed but after they dug it all out, I swept it into a wooden corner box ad stuck it in the run!! They tend to use this for playing in, so I now hide mealworms and other fun yummy stuff in there.

The other is a cat litter tray base filled with play sand and louse powder....they started using it a fortnight ago...it's been in there for about 6 weeks!!

cut my tubtrug down to make it shallow, and put some garden compost & playsand in it, they love it! i put it in the run around lunchtime, and they roll around in it, quite funny to watch them. I never thought about putting louse powder in...excellent idea, will go & get some tomorrow. Am still worried about Macy's poos, they still seem abit on the runny side! Tried them with some bran from the health food shop & pro-biotic yogurt tonight, but they didn't want to know! :( They do seem very happy & healthy tho...so perhaps am worrying over nothing. I did have 2 fried eggs tonight on toast....blummin eggscellent! i certainly noticed the differnece in taste.
