Eglu cube or go up with 2m run

We have a 9-month-old hybrid pullet who is a real character and generally healthy but has had laying problems since she started in April. She lays almost everyday but more softies and double yolkers than normal eggs. At the beginning of last week she got very ill with septic peritonitis and also laid a lash. She went to the vets immediately for antibiotics/metacam/crop feeds and is, thankfully, completely back to her lively self and has been laying normal eggs. However I am concerned that this problem will just keep happening and that it, and the softies/double yolkers, may badly affect her quality of life.

 

I have read about hormonal treatments/spaying to prevent further egg production. If anyone has any experience of these I would be very grateful for your comments. Would anyone recommend that we go ahead with one of these? Should we wait and see how things pan out? We don't care about eggs or the cost - we just want her to have a happy life.

I have had several hens with peritonitis over the years, and it does recur I'm afraid, with increasingly smaller gaps between episodes.
