cefreeman
My two week old bantam chicks are doing really well in the brooder however does anyone have any tips on how to stop them flicking the wood shavings into their water hopper!! I dont put the shavings near their food and water but the chicks love to have a scratch in the shavings and the water gets clogged with shavings in a matter of minutes! Good job I'm home all day to remove them otherwise they'd be without water for hours! I know I won't be able to stop them scratching in the shavings but is there a different kind of water container that I could use any suggestions would be welcomed with open arms
Jools
I use the smallest version of this drinker for my chicks. I start with it on the ground and then hang it, raising it up as they grow. It doesn't cure the problem, but it does help a little.
Redwing
i fold a duster or j cloth in half and place the drinker on that so the shavings are away from the water, i get cheap ones and throw them away every few days, kitchen roll works too I have had success with j cloths on the bottom of the brooder and aood pellet cat litter spread out on that; best brooder solution i ever used for indoors everything stays very clean
