Boybeck
Hello I have two ISA Browns in my Eglu (inside a 7ft long walk-in run). Is the Eglu big enough to add a light sussex and a silkie? Jason
Mercedes55
I have 4 ex batts in my Eglu and it's fine for them, I think the problem most people have is the size of the run. I only have the 2 metre standard run and quite honestly it's not big enough for 4 hens, but as ours had been used to such bad conditions prior to us getting them for the moment they are much better off than they were and we let them out a lot too. I'm not sure how large your hens are as I've only got experience with my hens which aren't huge. I'm sure someone else on here with more knowledge will be able to give you a more definitive response
Egluntyne
The general advice is one section of run per hen. A standard run is not considered big enough for 4 hens, as there is little scope for escaping any rough and tumble. Also, 4 hens per nesting box is the maximum recommendation. squiggin
I had 2 hybrids in mine and added another 3 last weekend however my eglu is in a big 5mx2m WIR. I was told this was fine as its more about the run space. It is a bit cosy at night time, particularly when they didn't exactly get on well the first few days but now seems fine. I am seriously tempted by the cube though as when they're fully grown it will be cosy...
crazy kc
I would say that yes the eglu is big enough. I keep 3 hens and 1 cockerel in mine I do have a run converter and extention making the run to 4 meters in length though.
littlehenny
I've got a , a and 2 warrens in my Eglu. They are fine in it but they do free range all day so the run size isn't really an issue for me
Ain't Nobody Here
I have had 5 in my eglu but to be honest, I've never had all 5 laying so there's never been a queue for the nestbox. They all slept in it happily though.
