Britannia Ovens (esp Range cookers) your experience

Does anyone else have this issue? One of my hens lays eggs with very rough shells, sometimes so much so that when I write the date on them, it's practically illegible. The only reason I can think of is feeding ex-bats feed to an ex-bat and two younger hens (probably almost a year now). Would this give the Warrens too much calcium? But then, surely both would lay eggs like this.

 

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Do you know which hen is laying the funny eggs? If we have a weird egg (k"Ooops, word censored!"bly or wrinkly), it's always our rescue girl's - it's down to her age

I think it's Morag as she's the only one that I don't see using the nest box and the bobbly eggs are being laid on the ground in the run. She's only about 10 months... will check to verify which it is though.

One of my younger girls lays eggs that have shells like sandpaper, I feel sorry for her having to lay them, they have very thin shells too.

I think I've read somewhere on the forum that rough egg shells is due to too much calcium in their diet. I guess that's better than not enough, which would result in shells that are too thin and will break easily

But chickencam said that they have thin shells too

Maybe I'll try a different feed for the younger two...
