Advice Please

Recommended Posts

Our Rhode Island Red has been all hunched up for a couple of days, we picked her up late last night and all of her back side was very swollen and bleeding, so we bathed her, she was sick when i held her whilst my partner was seeing to her bleeding after a few minutes she passed what we thought was a softy, however after a close inspection it is like a small egg creamy white in colour and quite firm. Once she had passed this a clear fluid was discharging from her backside, could anyone shed any light on what this might be and the reason.

Today she is walking about, eating still hunched up.

Thank You

Calnick

Not an egg then if you say like an egg. Sounds like she probably laid a lash. Go on cut it open and post a picture.

Is she ok now? If she had trouble passing it the others probably pecked at her vent causing the swelling and bleeding. I would bathe her vent and spray it with purple spray. Also keep her seperate in case the others are attracted to the blood until it has calmed down.

If she is hunched she may have a softie still to come behind the 'egg' or it could be a sign of other problem like infection. Hope she picks up or I would get vet to check her.
