Its better to have less, as long as its over about 30 the chicks will usually hatch - I have had chicks in my 'setting' incubator hatch at 25% (this machine has no extra humidity) the first chick out will raise the humidity as it dries off

If its too high the air space will fill with liquid and the chick may well drown when it tries to pip

Under 45% for the first 18 days is fine

55% ish for hatching

Its a 7 Egg Novital Covatutto incubator. Instructions have been really confusing so far!! Wish I'd spent more to be honest now

It says to have humidity at 45-55% but the bantam club says 60-65% with it going to 80-85% 3 days before hatch. I'm getting very confused  but tio be honest, everywhere I read is saying different...

Crikey thats high!

I had one of those, I put no water in till day 18 then filled up the little things at day 18, that took humidity to about 55%

The main thing with that inccy is not to open it after day 18 until all chicks have hatched as the hunidity is lost instantly due to the design and it struggles to regain it

If you find the humidity is on the low side after day 18 you can tape over one or two of the air holes (no more) to raise the humidity or poke some damp kitchen roll through the air holes (twist in to a long narrow stick)

If you find its too high after day 18 you are stuck with it
