Is my Speckledy broody?

Recommended Posts

Spike, my unfriendly Speckledy has been spending more and more time in the nest box over the last week. If I try to move her she puffs up and screeches a terrible noise  . Today is the longest she has been in there and it is 2.45 and she is still there and I don't think she has laid (although she has been laying every day until now). I don't think she is ill. Does it sound like she is broody? I thought I might dunk her in some water.

I have dunked her and sprayed her with the hose but she went back into the coop. :x I think I will try the broody cage tomorrow. I have an extra large cat box (one of my cats is enormous). If I stand it on bricks would that be OK? How do you know when they are ready to come out and do they get covered in poo? :?:
