timdrama
I took delivery of my Eglu Go and 2 chickens (one of each from Omlet) 2 months ago. After 2 weeks we got out first egg (very exciting) then for about a week we got two eggs a day. Since then egg production has been very random. I would say we average about 4 small eggs a week between the 2 hens. Can anyone tell me if this is normal - being young birds do they take a while to get into a consistent egg laying pattern? Do I just have to be patient? I think one bird hasn't laid anything for over a week now. Today no eggs. I am really enjoying keeping chickens but I need reassurance that this sort of pattern in the early stages of a bird life is normal.
Patricia W
It takes them a while to settle into a pattern. Keep them on the layers pellets and minimise the treats and they'll settle down. Tricia
timdrama
Thank you for this. Will follow your advice - as we are new to this we have been giving them quite a lot of treats - they go mad for grapes. Suspect I should keep them in the omlet run the whole morning to ensure that they eat only layers pellets. Tim
