esta
Hey, I've noticed one of my fat black hens has a rather large top beak. It is like a falcons beak not shorter and filed down like my other black ones. She is eating and drinking and is her normal self, is it because she isn't foraging through the earth that much anymore and wearing it down ? Is there anything i can do or buy that will shorten that beak? Thanks Esta x
Guest
No need to shorten it! In the past we have had birds with twisted beaks, oversized beaks, chopped off beaks and all sorts. They are very adaptable and she will survive perfectly well as long as she isn't having to fight over a small amount of food with other more able hens. She should be able to eat, forage, preen and lead a pefrectly normal life...

majuka
One of our ex-batts still has a very unequal beak and she manages to eat and drink fine with it. I think you should only be worried if it causing her problems.
