How long can colds last ?

Recommended Posts

Honey has been on antibiotics now for 3 weeks (2 different ones now on amoxycillin injections every 4 days) she is eating, drinking and has normal poo.,hasn't lost any weight or condition and is bright and alert but continues to sneeze and have a runny nose. I will take her to the vet in the morning for another injection, she also has citricidal in her water from today, has had nutridrops and lifeguard. Will she ever get better

My Donna has had sneezes and an occasional runny nose for just over a year. Her chest isn't wheezy and she behaves normally. I was adding citracidal into their water.

Another of my girls, Susan, got a chest infection, and my whole flock were treated with antibiotics as a precaution, I thought that this would solve Donnas sneezes once and for all.

It hasn't, the vet thinks it's a mild allergy to the bedding, but nothing to worry about (like hay fever in people)

So, it could be for ever.

If you use horse bedding like Aubiose or Hemcore, that may be worth running past your vet :D

Don't worry though, as it sounds like you are doing everything you can for her :D

Thanks for that - I mentioned that I used Bedmax and Aubiose but that she was used to it and he didn't think it was a problem. Anyway she is back on the marbocyl (one up from Baytril) had an injection and I have some to give orally. She was very quiet at the vets and at one point he mentioned post mortems  I said I would like to keep trying as she is behaving normally at home and when they weighed her she had put on weight - I was thrilled  I took Treacle as well as she has started sneezing again and she has the same treatment so here's hoping
