grb944
Hello All I've had my Cube and my 6 POL chickens for 8 weeks now. 3 have full combs and wattles and are laying an egg a day But 3 have not developed at all..no wattles and no eggs The 3 layers are clearly the dominatent birds so I sometimes FR the smallers birds first to let them feed first, but that just annoys the layers. Maybe the place I brought the chocks from sold be very very young birds, that weren't really POL..but they looked the same size. The 3 undeveloped birds are hybrids..they look like 2x Sussex(white) and 1x Ranger(ginger) The 3 layers look like 2x Speckledy 1x Black Rock Greg
Plum
Your Sussex still looks very young. Guess you have a while to wait yet. When the comb and wattles start to develop and they start crouching you'll be away. When they are sold as POL I think it just means over 16-18 weeks but one of mine was 30 weeks before she laid. My hybrids started at 22 weekish
sezra
I had a similar problem with mine. Although they were all bought as POL, one was very developed and laid within a couple of weeks but my Bluebelle has only started laying recently, two months after we got them! Worth the wait though!
