Anyway Bertha the bullied finally stopped perching high up and is now calm and have happy chooks, and quarantined chook is sitting in eglu run next to them - all 'seems' calm!!! Phew I'm wondering whether now would be a good time to reintroduce them all? (About a week now!) I was hoping to get another couple while on summer hols but going away in two weeks-would now be a good time to add (with inevitable pecking order reorganisation) or might this be not such a good move as things are settling again??? batcatz Posted August 11, 2010 Share Posted August 11, 2010 Hi, you could try and introduce them all again and see how it goes, but be ready to seperate. Or you could wait and introduce two more to the evil chook after a quarantine period for the new chooks, then introduce them all to the other two. coco Posted August 11, 2010 Share Posted August 11, 2010 I'd leave evil chook in solittary at least another week, maybe two. one of my ex batts Lola is a bully and was feather plucking [got a feeling she still is but haven't seen her do it] but it was when she picked Coco up and swung her round that I decided she need to go and live in the sin bin. Ahe was in there for two weeks but was almost as bad when she came out. Things seem to have settled down and she has chilled out a bit. you might find if you intorduce new chooks that she will bully them too. I have two new POl hens that I am doing very slow introductions with, they both have lots of lovely feathers. I have a feeling Lola may be going back in the sin bin sometime soon. I went up earlier before I saw replies and let her out, all well except one swift neck nip, Bertha still happily at ground level and not hiding. The two nicer ones are in one eglu by choice tonight and went in her quarantine one alone, although run door is open. I will see how things are in the morning maybe As I said I would like to get another two as we're down to 1 egg a day if lucky and hoped it might bring some balance - I'm just so concerned with making anything worse We go away in just over two weeks but thought now might be a good time before me and kids are back at school in sept.. scarlettohara Posted August 12, 2010 Share Posted August 12, 2010 I feel your pain After having done 2 separate intros with LF with no problems I got some bantam chicks, I thought chicks would just bond as they were babies. However the older one at 11 weeks is best friends with the 8 week old frizzle but will not accept the other pekins of the same age at all (they came a week later). I've had no injuries but she chases them away from food/water and was turfing them out of the coop at night, however last night they were all in and she was last. I had been swapping them around and putting her to bed last but I think now I have to leave them to get on with it - it's certainly not been easy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
