After the initial feather sexing, the consensus seemed to be that I had two girls and one frizzled boy. Well, now at 3 weeks it seems likely that the lavender isn't a girl as thought . It's also possible that both of the other chicks are males, too. Just bad luck, I guess Still, I have enjoyed the hatching process, have learned a lot and am about to learn even more about rehoming cockerels Pics on blog if anyone's interested

I think my 3 are all boys too ...I havnt really had that much of a look, but Mum seems to think they are all boys...rather hoping my next batch (of about 14) will at least have SOME girls in it!

 

What are you going to do if they are all boys?

I'm going to do my best to rehome. I have got an arrangement with my vet which I put in place before I attempted to hatch, but obviously I hope it doesn't come to that It's my first hatch, so I was really hoping to get at least one girl

Yer it's my 1st hatch too. my 2nd batch is due to hatch on 21st aug so hoping things will get evened out.

 

We do need more boys...our adult ones are going a bit grey so hopefully replacing old with new might sprouce things up a bit.

Fingers crossed you're wrong and there is at least one girl. I've just had my first attempt at vent sexing and can now confidently say that my baby Orps are neither girls nor boys

Lol Griffin! Pekins are supposed to be easy to sex, but I think that only applies if you have a mixture of the sexes to compare with Otherwise they all just look like...chicks I've had some pekins at 6 weeks old that are female but have a lot of head gear. My 'pure' colour girls seem to have more face furniture than my 'fancy' types. I'll just have to wait and see

Pekin girls can seem to get combs & little wattles quick, leading you to believe they are boys.

After about 10 weeks you can usually see a distinctive difference. I had one crow at 8 weeks old. He's a daddy himself now.

My first hatch are 6 pekins and they are now 5 weeks, i have 3 boys and 3 girls, they have been pretty easy to sex as the boys combs grew sooooo quickly. and the girls look quite fat due to the feathering i think! Hope you have luck finding homes for them xxx
