Britannia Ovens (esp Range cookers) your experience

I have recently bought 4 pure breed bantams, started them off on layers mash. Do I keep them on this or do i move to pellets at some point? Hens not laying yet but fingers crossed we find one soon.

I started mine on pellets and moved onto mash. They prefere it even though it's REALLY messy! I also think it keeps them busy sorting through for the tasty bits.

I started mine on pellets and then changed to mash. A few weeks ago I tried to change back to pellets but they just refused to eat it and the eggs got smaller so I caved in and put them back on mash.

Mine are different, they won't touch the mash - pellets everytime

I prefer to give mine pellets. But I think if you have hens in a smaller space then mash is best as it amuses them for hours eating it.

 

I can't think of anything better than eating for hours myself come to think of it.

I changed mine to Mash a while ago because they seemed to prefer it however, I have noticed that they only sort out the bits they like and leave the rest!! In view of the fact that I have had a problem with feather pecking and have been told that this could be because of a lack of Protein, I have moved them back onto Pellets so that they at least are getting everything they should out of it. They don't like it as much but faced with that or nothing else they will have to eat it
