beach chick
urgh! cleaned the girls out tonight and found grey bugs in the straw bedding... longer than a woodlouse but much narrower, and pale grey in colour. quite active... so much so that I am itching still! I have cleaned the whole thing with poultry shield, and sprayed it into all the cracks, rinsed off and repeated and allowed to dry. then put fresh bedding (woodshavings this time), powdered that with diatom and lice powder, then put the roosting bars in and powdered those too. won't use the straw again I think (just happened to have it around). I've looked at the red mites and lice threads, and these beasties didnt look like the pics - although I think they could well have been lice, that was the first thought that came to mind. I have some anti-lice spray, but the label has worn off - can anyone remind me how to apply? I am thinking back of neck and vent area... and egg withdrawal? (not that we are getting hardly any, which may be down to the critters)
Redwing
If they are longer than a woodlouse they dont sound like parasites Maybe just bugs and harmless?
