sadietoo
A friend of ours has a holiday villa for rent, which they let out through a registered site. Imagine his surprise then when he googled their villa, to find that it was being let out by someone else! He e-mailed them from his g-mail account and asked to book the villa for a week when he and his wife have already arranged to go out there... and would you believe it they did have availability for that week..all he needed was to make a deposit....he's waiting for the bank details and when he gets them he'll report them to the fraud department of the bank, but my friend and his wife are really worried now that some poor soul is going to turn up at the Villa expecting to stay there when it has legitimately been let to someone else I know this has been reported in various newspapers but it is just a reminder to be extra careful if you are booking holiday property on the internet

Cinnamon
I read about this scam in the paper last week. Horrible to do this to someones holiday, which is (especially now) hard worked for & scrimped for.

MarkBevBen
Blimey that's terrible. I hope your friends manage to find out who's responsible for this and they get sorted out.
