I have a pipper!!! - Pics added

Recommended Posts

Bit of a long story but here goes.....

I brought a new incy with intentions to shove some quick growing table birds in there. I brought six hubbards eggs from Ebay. One was smashed on arrival, One was cracked (noticed at candling), two were definite duds, one was iffy and one was viable.

I was so disappointed with these eggs, that I brought a further 12 from another seller = and a couple of orp eggs (for fun). I added these into the same incubator about 10 days later.

I did not go into lockdown on tuesday, stop turnimg or adjust anything as I don't want to affect the other 14 eggs that possibly have more chance.

I had no hope of anything happening with the two eggs - yet one is pipping. I'm so silly excited.

I'll leave the other egg until day 23 and then if nothing happened I'll whip it out and take the chance to candle the other eggs (which will be at day 10/11).

watch this space for chick pics soon (hopefully)

My one hubbard has hatched. She finally got out this morning. She's not particually pretty - but then I'm not worried about that as it makes no difference to her long term future.

As she was all alone though, I decided to purchase another chick to keep her company. I have brought a 3 day old blue splash orpington which dd has lovingly named Splatt!

Pics will cone later. Both are currenly laid flat out in the brooder looking a bit like 'road kill'.

Oh they are gorgeous - congratulations :) we had a blue splash orp chick which unfortunately didn't survive past a few weeks, but he was poorly for a while. Looking forward to reading about the progress of yours, as the other chicks have been getting bigger and more feathered by the day I often wonder what little bluey would have looked like.
