scarlettohara
Honey had antibiotics for a month about 3/4 weeks ago for a respiratory infection, she has been OK in the meantime -eating drinking and put on weight and has laid everyday. Yesterday she was not her usual self although pecking around the garden she kept sitting and sleeping and was not overly interested at treat time but ate a little mashed potato. I put her on her own in end of WIR with chick crumb and water but she wasn't interested, I also gave her nutridrops and checked her vent, crop (bit squishy) and breathing - all fine. This morning she came out of the cube quite happily but I only saw her drink but she didn't before I left for work. Her egg yesterday was semi soft and I found a very tiny (pea size) soft shelled egg in the tray which may have been hers from another day ? Any help appreciated as working all weekend ! Redwing
Perhaps she has another soft egg on the way, chooks can get ever so down and depressed looking when they have one on the way, they soon perk up once its laid though
scarlettohara
Thanks Tasha - she has perked up and is eating and has laid a hard egg, I gave her a mash with some grit and mealworms and she enjoyed that so fingers crossed
