MarkBevBen
We let our ladies out in the garden yesterday for the first time, which they thoroughly enjoyed Seems they've had a bit of an altercation with a pigeon, we saw some grey pigeon feathers but all our ladies seemed fine. This morning, I've found said pigeon - seems he/she came off worse Do you think the shock might have killed him?
CallyChook
might be co-incidence, or might be physical trauma? I can't see it being the stress as pigeons in cities get battered by traffic, shot at, screamed at etc and I've never seen any of them curl up and die through stress. Also pigeons surely see lots of different threats every day like badgers, buzzards and humans? Chickens can and will kill small birds (and mice, voles, shrews....) to eat if they get a chance (one of mine pecked and killed a robin during the snows last january, it was very sad as the wee robin was only trying to steal a beakful of pellets in the harsh conditions. She tried eating it but I think it must have been a tiny bit too big as eventually it was left to go stiff in the ice until I went and disposed of it) Either way, poor pigeon, but well done girls, they obviously defended their territory well and are clever too
