Hello!

Does anyone else's chooks decided to flick pellets/mash onto the floor and eat their breakfast from the ground? Mine have taken to literally emptying the grub (both when full to the brim and almost empty) on to the floor!

Have I made a mistake in terms of not positioning the grub high enough/low enough?

Please let me know your thoughts as my chooks are wasting a SERIOUS amount of food!!

Thanks in advance for your help!

My 11 week old chicks do the same thing. I just let them get on with it, just making sure there is always some fresh food available for them.

It is very annoying - they have also started knocking their glug onto the run floor too.

The only upside is for my other hens. Every few days or so I move the chicks run along and that reveals all the mushed up food on the floor. My older hens gobble this up. It seems to get stuck in the grass so there is no way I could clean it up.

In 6 weeks my chicks will be out with the big girls and have a different feeder so I hope that will stop the problem. In the meantime I just let them do it if that is what they want to do. I don't even think they do it because they are bored. I think it is just that they can. :wall:
