Snowy
All you cake decorators out there - please can you recommend a reasonably priced cake decorating set? I want to ice some cupcakes for the boys birthdays, and swirl the icing on rather than plastering it on with a knife like I usually do! I need a decent sized bag and a nozzle with a good sized star hole. I was going to order one from Lakeland but they have had some quite bad reviews
lillybettybabs
There used to be a very good cake decorating shop in Leicester, I can't remember where it was though.
bigmommasally
I bought my daughter the Tala icing set for christmas - but she didn't like it and found it hard to push the icing out, so for her birthday I got her the red (or maybe it was orange) plastic concetina type one from Lakeland. Though it only comes with one nozzel it takes all the Tala ones, DD1 loves it and says it is very easy to use. I'm sure it was only a few pounds, I was trying to post a link but the Lakeland website is down at the moment. Lakeland website working now so edited to add the link: http://www.lakeland.co.uk/kuhn-rikon-concertina-decorating-bottles/F/C/cooking-baking/C/cooking-baking-cake-decorating/product/14204_14205 Edited September 9, 2010 by Guest
craftyhunnypie
The old fashioned Tala stainless steel syringe is good for just cupcakes. However, proper icing techniques I like lakeland disposable icing bags or Pampered chef concertina thingys. Pampered Chef - you get a set of 3. Krysia
I would go in Ebay and buy a large star nozzel and a cheap 10'' bag or bigger, thats what I use for big swirly cupcakes
