I just opened up our Eglu and found this along with a normal egg from our other hen. You can click on the photo for a larger version.

 

 

 

This hen has seemed to be broody, so I wonder if she has been egg bound?

 

Or has anyone got any other suggestions.

Def a lash. Do a 'search' on the forum (it may be in FAQs about eggs even) as there's a great thread about lashes and loads of pictures. We had one recently that we'd never seen before and were greatly reassured by reading the thread.

when checking all my girls had gone to bed just before shutting the pop hole yesterday, I found a freaky freaky lash next to a really soft egg shell and the girls pecking at spilled yolk. Quickly removed it all from their bedroom area but would just like to say thanks to everyone who posted pix of lashes as it enabled me to not be too scared/freaked/worried which I would inevitably have been without pre-warning.

The "lash" post with piccies is really useful, as I've showed it to my daughters, as they've already sorted out an egg collecting rota, and wouldn't have wanted one of them to find one unprepared. As per usual, totally unimpressed. " I thought you said it was gross, mum" was the comment I got. I am pretty strong stomached ex-nurse, so they are too.

But great all the same....
