Boybeck
Hello One of my chickens started sneezing during a moult about three weeks ago. My other three have now started sneezing very occasionally too. What should I do? They're not off their food and are very perky.
Mr Rhode Island Red
Peel and squash a clove of garlic and add it to their water. I guarantee it works
Chortle Chook
I wish I'd known about the clove of garlic before. I'll use that next time for sure. One of my little hens, Doodle, was sneezing and then my cockerel, Dill started. I got him second hand and I don't think that he is all that young (perhaps 4 years old?). Although Doodle soon got better, Dill got a runny nose - well beak - and his crow went all funny as if he had a sore throat. Even though neither were off their food and both continued to come out and scratch about, I took them both to the vet and they have been on Baytril for a week. Both seem better now, thank goodness, but I had to throw away any eggs. That felt like such a waste The vet said that they probably caught a cold off of a wild bird. I guarantee it works Not wishing to contradict but, mine always have garlic in the water, not crushed as such tho. They still got a chest bug that Tylan soon sorted.
